Blue

Blue

Have you ever imagined how blue whales must feel,
to be free the big giant,
within a vast existence
to every place it would call home.

And if whales could speak our tongue,
I'm sure they'd probably talk about how lonely it gets,
to be the elephant in the room when there's no one else around.
To sing in the dark alone,
and imagine the echoes sound like whispers from those who cared enough to be loud.
Yet he managed to find love,
managed to hold on to his broken bones,
long enough to not make fossils of every love he'd had.
She his black hole that soaked the dark from everything he shared,
she made him feel whole.
You ever trace the outlines of a strangers face and felt it familiar,
like it was home.
Like it was your midnight cup of coffee whipped with love and happiness it made him feel warm,
to be loved again,
by anyone else besides himself.

She'd look in his eyes,
and he'd  see,
the words held up high like the Hollywood sign they'd say I love you.
And she'd meant it still after their third year together,
like these roses never withered.
How wonderful it must have been.
To look at the moon at night,
and each time see it anew.
To kiss her lips,
see her smile and still get enough butterflies inside to darken the sun a minute.
She made him feel sixteen again,
made him the postman that never delivered all the mental love notes he wrote.
All the words he swallowed that made camp in his throat.
These words he held down long enough,
this blue whale never came up,
it's body dead,
and it never came afloat.

  1. Chisala: your poetry is beautiful, intense and shows passion for life.
I'm a teacher in Mexico, and I´m using your poems in some of my classes, but I'd like to know more about you to tell my students about the author of the beauty of your thoughts expressed in poetry.
Where do you live, when and where were you born? did you study to be a poet or you just write poetry because that´s the way God makes us enjoy life through your words.
Please, I'd like to encourage my children to read and write poetry.

    1. I'm a Zambian born poet goes by ChisalamyPoems. I consider myself an unorthodox poet that loves to read novels and just be an open minded guy. My goal is to do more spoken word live performances and meet a lot more like minded people for growth and inspiration. Ultimately get my work published.

My inspiration just comes to me, but most times the lives that people live tell stories I can't ignore. Writing for me is a hobby and I wouldn't trade the words in my head for anything. I didn't study to be a poet it's just comes to me naturally. Thanks for the comment ๐Ÿ™ I hope I gave you some ground to maybe encourage the kids to do more of this too.
